![]() With iCloud syncing of iMessages in macOS 10.13.5 and iOS 11.4 we have a different situation that I am not sure fits the previous functioning of the app and at the very least confuses the picture.Īs you pointed out it can be further complicated by the "Send From" choices. The "Read" responses work in a similar way in that the Addressed ID device is the one that sends (if set) the Read receipt. The reverse of Addressing the iPhone Number and not seeing a response from the Mac if the Messages on the iPhone was off the iPhone had lost power was also true. In most scenarios it used to be that possibly between you and a Contact that there were at least two devices and two IDs at both end with links between those IDs (iPhone Number and Apple ID).Įssentially if your sent to the Apple ID then the Mac (if logged in to the servers) would be the one to respond to the server with having received the iMessage and you in turn would see Delivered.Įven if the iPhone also had the Apple ID as an Active ID it would not respond to the iMessages server and you would not see the "Delivered" message. I am not sure, if, with the changes due to iCloud syncing, that this is explainable any more.
